I’m First!

Well, well, well what do we have here? A shorn and shaven Joaquin Phoenix stepping out to attend an after Grammy party with his sister Rain? I guess the bus to Crazytown makes return trips to Sanityville. I, for one am not surprised. But I have to admit I am a little disapointed. I liked the “crazy” Joaquin. The hair, the beard, the do what I want attitude. I’ll miss being part of a mystery. However, I won’t miss the rumors of drug addiction, mental issues and guessing games. But still, theres a question: what are his intentions and motives? Is he back to acting? Is he that fickle? “I’m done…….oops, no I’m not? Maybe his Rap c.d. has reached completion and he is ready to launch that.

I predict a riot (slappin’ ya’all!)

Well looky here, we are approaching the demise of 2009 and soon 2010 will be thrust upon us. What has this past year done for me? Not much, and I for one will not be sorry to see it go. Amidst our promise of a new era with a new president, the economy is suffering still, the rich still get richer and the poor fund them. Even this humble writer has felt the disease that 2009 wrought.

With all the personal worries of the masses, it seems trivial of me to wonder what 2010 will bring to us from the Phoenix camp. The question is, will we see Joaquin’s new rap cd come to fruition or will it be the same? More gossip and speculation? Joaquin has completely fallen off the radar. Fansites are shutting down on the internet from lack of interest and internet reports are virtually non-existent. I had convinced myself that the reason Joaquin did some less than sane things was to keep the medias jaws flapping while he took his time recording. But it looks like the old saying, your only as good as your last press release, could end up biting him in the ass. That is, if he’s even interested in making music anymore. No one knows, because know ones getting the scoop. I’ve researched around on the internet until I’m blue in the face and everything is basically just opinion. Some in my own words, from this very blog! Thanks for ripping me off folks! Where the hell is Joaquin? I’m guessing in Florida with his family at the moment, with the Holidays and all…………Hey Joaq, I’m in Florida! Look me up, we could go out. Looks to me like you’ve got the time!

Where is my present?

Yesterday was my birthday, it wasn’t bad as far as birthdays go. My family gave me some great gifts and I took myself out to dinner the night before. The only thing missing??? Joaquins acknowledgement! I know…..don’t hold my breath. But it seems he has quieted down for the time being and there is nothing new to comment on for the press or for me! I think its good that he is finding the time to work on his music….But for heavens sake, punch someone! I’m only kidding. I live here in the sunshine state…..I’m still waiting for my gift Joaquin!!!

Demented and Sad, but social

So far being a Joaquin Phoenix minion has been pretty easy these last nine years. The hardest thing about loving the man has been all the scraping, digging and clawing that I’ve had to do to find any information on this enigma. An Oscar nominated Actor, who shuns the spotlight and doesn’t sensationalize his accomplishments. No one could call Joaquin a media whore. He doesn’t jump up and down on talk show Divas couches, wear suits made out of credit cards or kiss his closest relative on the mouth at awards shows. So, why all of a sudden is it like a whirlwind of all that rolled into a big fiasco? Its gotten so that I’m afraid to turn on my computer anymore. No telling what happened whil I slept. No telling what I’ll have to come up with a rationilazation for next. Its not a secret that I harbor quite a fondness for Joaquin Phoenix. Within five minutes of meeting me, any being possessing average intelligence can read the signs. If my Walk The Line dog tag doesn’t tip you off, my “I love Joaqion Phoenix” wristband or my Phoenix neck tattoo should leave no doubt in your mind. Use to be I would have to explain who he was at first. Have you seen____________________________? Walk The Line for the girls, Gladiator for the guys…..Most people would smile and nod their heads and say something like, “Oh yea! He’s good!” Now days, “you like Joaquin Phoenix?” is usually followed by: Whats up with him? “He quit acting right?” Why did he do that? “Is it drugs?” Cause you know what happened to Heath Ledger! “He wants to be a rapper?” Is he even any good? “Whats with the hair and the beard?” He looks like a homeless person! At first, I was a bit put upon by this line of questioning. Immediantly my defenses would go up and since I wasn’t sure of Joaqs motivation myself, folks making those queries would end up getting their heads bitten off and chewed. Mainly because, in the begining my fear was that he would disappear forever, build an Eco-friendly house in Florida and wander beaches barefoot for the rest of his life. When he announced that he would be going into music, I got excited all over again, although I can count the actors who have made that transition successfully on one hand. I was optimistic. When I heard it was Hip Hop music, yes I was a little disturbed. But Hey, Joaquin can do no wrong, right? So I made no snap judgements and I opened my mind, and I’ve watched and I’ve listened. Since Joaq declared his intention to retire, he has spent more time being talked about in the press, then he ever has in his entire career. Good thing he has built a resume people respected. Everyone insists he’s having a melt down. I do not subscribe to this opinion. Everyone says its drugs. Another opinion that I don’t share. If Joaquin is so far out there, wasted or whatever that nothing matters annd he’s going on talk shows and stages to “blow” his appearances with glassy eyed oblivious responses and heckler punching, someone in the Phoenix Clan not on the payroll or money hungry, needs to grab ahold of him and set him straight, don’t ya think? HELLO??? This is dangerous behaviour! Or is it? Do they know something that we don’t? I say: probably! I’ve read interviews where Joaquin has stated that he wished he were an unknown. Then no one would make such a big deal about his decision to Rap…Exactly!!! If he wasn’t Joaquin Phoenix no one would care! Sean Combs wouldn’t want to help him, 50 Cent wouldn’t be offering him advice in the press and there would be no videos on youtube asking him to Rap for a private label. He couldn’t have built a recording studio in his basement on what a struggling rap musician brings home and that million dollar bank account? A pipe dream!
I will be the last one to call Joaquin out. I admire a man courageous enough to follow his passion through shark infested waters, but he’s luckier than most. He has the resources to help himself….No disrespect meant – I’m just saying! The strange behaviour, the long hair and beard, Casey and his documentary all aside, I have been proud to love this man for nine years. Nothing short of a personal rejection will deter me. And right now Joaquin should be coveting all the minions he can get. These days questions about his intentions don’t phase me as much, I just smile and nod…….Joaq’s getting the hang of the game!livc2b409-008

What Just Happened?

Well Peasents, Cinderella did not get to go to the ball. Alas my chariot was only a pumpkin and due to unforseen circumstances, I wasn’t able to dance with the Prince in Miami. Joaquin hit that stage without me and to say that I was distressed is a severe understatement. But I am not dwelling on what is past. I’m remaining positive in hopes of future encounters. I may be down, but I’m not out. Joaquin will perform in Miami again, and you can bet your tiara I will be there. I’m choosing faith. But my Universe is undergoing uncertain upheavel at this period in time, so sympathy for Joaquin is easy. There is a battle zone of stuff flying all over the place. Reminds me of that 80’s movie, Poltergeist. Between getting caught up in the thoughts certain tongue wavers have put into my head about Joaquin’s possible downward spiral, my inability to get to Miami and I wanted to go so badly that I cried (stupid,) unwanted guests invading my space and using up the “not enough” we already don’t have, self-proclaimed bad boys introducing sex talk before introducing their last names and my best friend’s melt down screaming match at Wal-Mart with a woman who was in front of him, no doubt. Cindy’s holding the castle together pretty well. And don’t even get me started on funds, family or feline problems!
Makes me wonder at what height of elevation Joaquin lives his life at. Mine is chaos and I’m not famous. Perhaps fate will bestow on me the same Fairy Godmother who looks after Joaquin. I could use a little magical intervention!….Want to trade places with me Joaq?

I am the scapegoat
look in my eyes
you promised roses
delivered lies
walked through the garden
and stripped alone
You call it hell, yeah
I call it home…

What is that Freak doing?..or Miranda wants to go to Miami!

There have been several unsettling speculations in the continuing saga that is Joaquin Phoenix’s life right now. Although I don’t want to add any fuel to the fire, this “blind item” has to be one of the worst….

Brain-Fry Noodlestein’s completely brilliant at what he does- or rather did. Dude’s throwing it all away- friends, family, well respected career- cause he’s hooked on the hard stuff. Much harder stuff than Smokey shooter would ever consider.

Heroin, babes. And lots of it…

No matter what I believe personally or the fact that I am not going to point fingers, the suggestion is out there and you wonder.
Joaquin is going to be performing on March 11th at a night club in Miami- I want to go… Unfortunately for me, this requires a lot more effort than just jumping in the car. But Goddess willing, and I think she is, I will get there anyway. I do not intend to make one little noise. I just want to look at him. Everyone has issues……I want to see his…..joaquin phoenix

I’m Cool Now………..

joaquin phoenix I was very upset (to say the least) to find that my city wasn’t one of the “selected” cities showing Joaquin Phoenix’s latest and apparently last celluloid effort, Two Lovers. But Thanks be to a close relative and this wonderful web (which I will likely be cussing tomorrow!) I was able to view it in all its splendid entirety. Yes, I would have rather seen it on the big screen but theaters tend to frown on pausing a film for bathroom breaks and there wasn’t a line to be found! I will shamelessly admit, that I loved this movie! I loved Joaquin’s character and I loved the other actors and the performances they gave. It was truly a no frills needed, sweet movie experience. But unfortunately it is also a bittersweet one and another reason to wish Joaquin wouldn’t depart from acting quite so soon. I’m sure Mr. Gray deserves some of the credit, but whatever Joaq had to go through to deliver that performance, was well worth it and I commend him. Even if you have no interest in Joaquin Phoenix ( can’t imagine what you’re doing reading this, unless your initials are T.R.!) you should go see this movie, it will make you feel good. This movie made me feel good. All in all, not a bad finish to a brilliant career. Thank You Joaquin for giving us your best….again!

(For anybody wondering what I thought of Joaquin’s appearance on Letterman, 6 words for ya……Most viewed video on the net!!! Publicity? Can’t buy that kind! Smart man, indeed!

I will not back down, I will not go quietly…

normal_robertdeutschusatodayI spent today strolling around this web looking for responses to Joaquin Phoenixs recent appearance on Late Night With David Letterman. I am continually surprised to find how truely stupid people as a group can be. Of course when their sparred on by things they don’t understand they, like the fools they are, decide to open their mouths about said subject like suddenly their experts. I call this open mouth, insert foot syndrome and there are many sufferers. Now, I’ll be the first to admit, when it comes to Joaquin, I’m kind of following along behind the little animals. He can really do no wrong. If he wanted to dig a new Grand Canyon where New York City is, I’d be the first to buy a shovel. So maybe I’m not the most impartial person to ask when it comes to his Hip-Hop career. But my son’s friends say it’s cool and that he has alot of balls. Nevermind, they could be saying that because their in my house. but hey, I think so too. When he signed on for this, he had to know there might be this kind of reaction, but perhaps he was looking for whatever reaction surfaced. Who cares what people say anyway? At night when you lay down to sleep, it’s your reaction that really matters. And ya know what I say?, Joaq, I like the beard, I like the hair, its not far from dread locks. Hell, come to my house, I’ll help ya! After all, if your willing to take the punishment, your half way through the battle right? And what about that wack job, Cristian Bale? Let the masses talk about that for awhile!

Anyone who’s familiar with this blog knows how I feel about Joaquin Phoenix, but even a newcomer should be tipped off by the banner that only confirms the obvious. Throughout this very public mess he’s gotten himself into, I have read a lot of misinformed peoples opinions on Joaquin’s retirement from acting, his new Hip-Hop career, his appearance, hell even his mental state has been scrutinized. People that I know, in moments of total lunacy have thrown questions at me as to his intentions. Not because I have the inside track on that information mind you, but because my opinion of him has never wavered. I think Joaquin could be a law unto himself and completely unconcerned with what others think of him. He may want to be respected as a good, solid entity but if it interferes with any of his intense ideas or goals, then he couldn’t care less. As for those who gossip, he lets them talk all they want. Do you think any of his important decisions are hampered by his friends, family, admirers or enemies? Perhaps that’s the reason Casey Affleck has that camera. Joaquin’s supposed refusal to publicize his new movie, Two Lovers has garnered more publicity for the film then if he would have smiled and plugged away. His understanding of how to “play” Hollywood, amazes me. I won’t be the least surprised if the public finds itself manipulated by the same story they think is doing him in. Am I giving Joaq too much credit or making a rationalization here? You know what they say about those: try to get through a day without one. But I can’t help it if I refuse to buy into the tripe we’re being handed. I know Joaquin (?) to be a passionate man and if what he’s doing no longer makes him happy, then he’ll do something else. That kind of courage should be applauded, not ridiculed.
